thanks, jim..
Tonight, after we left the football game during the fourth quarter, Rachel and I decided to drive. The car was the only place Rachel could think of where we could turn on heat. The car was the only place I could think of where we could get away from everything. We drove around taking stock of what sorts of food places were open in the forlorn town of Hillsdale at 9:30pm. Oakley, Hungry Howie's, Pizza Hut.. Rachel chose Oakley, whose name on the yellow awning is printed in something akin to the Word font Gigi. "Oakley! Riverside Deli and Party Store."
Oakley at 10pm on a Saturday night is Rachel's and my new treasure trove. Usually, they sell the leftover bread the next day as day old bread. But Oakley is closed on Sunday, so Saturday's leftovers get thrown out. James Timothy Allen, a senior at school who works Saturday nights at Oakley, gave us about half a football field's length of sub sandwich bread.
Rachel and I have discovered a gold mine, and an amusing way to spend an evening together from time to time this semester.
